Range Report: Wife Shoots A .45 / I Come To 1911

Had a great day at the range! In addition to practicing with my XD9, we tried a H&K Compact .45. I have to say for all the hype I heard about the USP I am really not impressed. Check out the YouTube of my wife shooting the USP .45 at the end of the post.

Overall I like my XD better. The only thing you will hear me complain about on the XD is the trigger pull. The USP, really no improvement, I figure Glock has got one of the best triggers around. So when we returned the USP to the range master, I mentioned that I thought it was just ok. He laughed and said, you want a 1911. He handed me a Kimber and said pull the trigger. That’s when the heavens opened and I felt the best trigger I have ever felt on a pistol. At that moment I came to Jesus 1911. I might just have to salivate for a while because those things are expensive.

As an added bonus I have a short YouTube of my wife shooting a .45 for the first time. Notice the bad ass focus and the smile. I fully expect her to be shooting (anything) better than me, if not now, shortly.

As a minor stipulation I had not shot a .45 either, but I figured my experience with .44 mag made that point moot.
