Did a bit of a road trip this weekend. Drove from Vancouver WA to Spokane WA then down to Pullman WA and home. All total it was probably about 12 plus hours on the road.
I have to say Spokane is a much nicer place than I was expecting. We ate at the Down River Grill. If you get a chance to go have the calamari. The calamari and everything else was very good.

Crappy iPhone picture of the calamari and the Gorgonzola fries.

While in Spokane I noticed that we were 30 min away from a Cabela’s. I had never been to Cabela’s but had only heard amazing things.
Cabela’s was truly amazing. If you take Costco and double the size you might be getting there. Their gun section was mind bending. In the Gun Library I found cases full of the same lever action gun that has been passed down to me from my grandfather. This renewed my urgency to get my gun restored/preserved.

While I was enthralled looking at all the cool gear. My wife was busy looking the myriad of taxidermy animals and the aquarium. Normally I find stuffed animals creepy, but these were like a natural history exhibit.

Cabela’s fish tank. Not tropical fish, tasty fish.
I ended up only waking away from some bad ass .45 personal defense ammo and an ammo dry box. I could have spent a lot more.

Hornady Critical Defense and TAP both in .45. I will take these to the range a report back.
On the way out of Spokane we stopped at Chaps for breakfast. I highly recommend that place.

Final things to note. Driving the Escape was nice. We drove a 08 V6. As nice as it was I think our 09 is more car-like and civilized. The 08 still has traces of SUV/Explorer.
We also burned our eyes on this:

yeah…
All in all, I great weekend away.
